I don’t know about you, but one thing I am super thankful for is that both Facebook and Instagram have the memories feature. I love seeing an old post pop up – it instantly teleports me back in time and I remember all the things that made me smile.
Pictures are an important tool to help us remember the past. We can all relate to memories slipping us by a little bit more each year. Those old posts and pictures remind us of times we didn’t even remember existed. Crazy how that works!
My 15-year-old Jackie had an experience like this recently. Snapchat (another social media platform that might as well be a foreign language to me) gives you your entire year in review in December. As she was scrolling through all her photo and video memories with her friends, she kept saying, “I totally forgot about that!”
And it got me thinking. Memories are there to serve us. They remind us of the good times and the bad, where we came from, what we achieved, and if you let them, are a good push to keep going after the goals that are still ahead.
2020 wasn’t easy, but I want to move past that. I want to find the good that happened in the middle of absolute chaos.
Because you all played a major role in how my business has evolved in just this one year alone, I’m going to take a moment to reflect on what you helped me achieve. I couldn’t have done it without your patience, your input when I asked for help, and your encouragement on days when I wanted to throw in the towel.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?
January and February: New Graphics and SVG files.
I had such a good time making these. It was a project I really branched out on and now a year later is something I have been implementing into the store. Thanks, Procreate!
March: DIY Paint Kits
These could not have come at a better time. Paint parties got shut down, but the fun still continued at home!
June: The Signmaker’s Society – FIRST EVER REGISTRATION!
This stole the show for me this year. Looking back, I am so glad I took this leap of faith. The Signmaker’s Society was something that had been in the works for nearly a year but was never something I was able to push or even had the courage to do. It took a lot of motivation from some of my podcasters, family, friends, and of course, you guys wanting more! Now, I have a group of nearly 50 women painting with me on the weekly and keeping me sane.
September: New Website and Blog Launch!
Another big project that took foreveeeeer to get done. To tell you the truth, my old website was okay, but it didn’t capture the magic that went into everything I was doing behind the scenes. I wanted a website that would tell the story of Canvas Sign Designs and show you all what happens when you just let go. I love the rebranding we went through, and I am so proud of my team and I for making it happen!
October: Online Painting Classes
I don’t think it came as a surprise to anyone that I did this (because, hello, 2020 and lockdowns!) but boy was it fun…and sparked some new ideas that are on the horizon now.
November: A New Sign That Resonated With us All
Okay…but how perfect was this?! I hope you all had a good laugh.
December: New Tag Signs
Oh boy, if I had to pick one thing this year that was my FAVORITE thing to create – physically and digital – this would be it. Quite frankly, I’m still obsessed. This type of sign won’t be going away any time soon.
I hope these highlights made you smile as I did! Thank you for supporting my business and inspiring creativity in me every single day. You guys rock!
Cheers to another year of innovation and crafting!
